KOBE BRYANT RETIRES, THERE IS A TIME FOR EVERYTHING.
Icheoku says the preacher in Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 said it all, there is time for everything under the sun including a time to begin and a time to retire from playing basketball. So now that the sun has set for the storied basketball playing career of Kobe Bryant, Icheoku can but wish the mega super star, one heck of a good time in retirement.
With a 20-year career record that saw him win five NBA championships with Los Angeles Lakers, two Olympic gold medals, 17 NBA All-Star selections, 81 point game and more than 32,000 points, an NBA MVP as well as numerous endorsements, Icheoku agrees with Lakers' coach that he is eminently qualified as a "Greatness." Although he would have bowed out when the ovation was loudest rather than going out now limping, with no recent championship win; but that does not diminish his record as one of the finest that ever played the orange round leather game. Icheoku says his story cannot be completely told with mentioning his indictment for rape and sexual assault; a called off divorce and subsequent reconciliation with his wife Vanessa.
In his parting remarks, the 'Basketball Greatness' wrote, "But I cannot love you obsessively for much longer. This season is all I have to give. My heart can take the pounding. My mind can handle the grind but my body knows its time to say goodbye. And that's OK. I'm ready to let you go." Icheoku has nothing more to add other than to join NBA commissioner, in saying "Thank you Kobe for this incredible journey." Your place is secured in the annals of the greats that has ever played the game of basketball. Best of luck KB.
