AFGHANISTAN: THEY ARE ALL TALIBAN.
ICHEOKU says the fact that the Afghanistan army is rapidly unraveling in the face of Taliban onslaught and exploits, taking swaths of territories, cities and provincial capitals from the government in Kabul forces, can only lead to one conclusion. The Afghanistan army are all Taliban and Taliban sympathizers and they are delighted at the promising prospect of reestablishing acute Islamism in Afghanistan. This is the only plausible explanation for why the Afghanistan military is folding as quickly as Taliban is exerting control over many territories throughout Afghanistan. Otherwise, a national army which has been training and preparing for such a time as is currently facing Afghanis, when the Taliban will make a play for power, should have put up a much better resistance than they are currently doing.
How can a rogue army be better trained, better equipped and better prepared than a national army and have also be better fighters as the rapidity of their territorial conquests have shown. The picture currently coming out of Afghanistan does not show the Afghanistan military in good light; it is either they are heavily compromised and giving comfort to the enemy, or they did not take their responsibilities of defending Afghanistan seriously. So, yes, Joe Biden is right and ICHEOKU supports his decision to empty Afghanistan of United States of America troops 100%. The defense of Afghanistan is the responsibility of those who own Afghanistan, the Afghanis. It is their country, their struggle, their regions, cities and provincial capitals; and yes, their people that need to be defended and by them. It is their responsibility as nobody can love Afghanistan more than Afghanis themselves.
But a place with centuries old tribal rivalries and treacheries is rapidly disintegrating along loose seams which the Taliban is using acute Islamism as a means to stitch it up as they gun for power. It seems that majority of Afghanis agree with the Taliban solution, the reason they are surrendering to the Taliban forces and openly welcoming them as they claim one city after another. The Taliban and the government teetering in Kabul are all Afghanistan people and in their battle for the hearts and minds of Afghanis, it seems the Taliban is winning. If a country of nearly 40 million people cannot raise enough army to defeat about 25,000 Taliban rebels, then something is definitely wrong somewhere. A matter made even worse because Afghanistan's immediate neighbors seem to like what Taliban is doing and you wonder why?
With Iran and Pakistan support, the government in Kabul would have easily routed the Taliban, so why are the two countries not giving support to President Ashraf Ghani's government and would rather stand aside and watch him toppled. Even Turkey's President Typp Recep Erdogan voluntary offer to send in troops to help protect some facilities including the airport has not been accepted to this day, why? So, what exactly is the game being played with the fate of Afghanistan or is everybody tired of President Ashraf Ghani and wants him gone. ICHEOKU agrees with the Pakistani government that there is a need to investigate the meltdown of Afghan security forces in the face of the Taliban exploits because it will reveal some complicity, if not outright sabotage. The reason a national army which has been training for more than 20years cannot stand up to a rag tag Taliban rebels, without a military base or formalized military training.
What happened to their capacity building, training, recruitment and military equipment which were freely supplied to them by the United States of America? Why the lack of will to fight and die for their country being shown by the Afghanistan army? What exactly was the negotiation with Taliban all about since it is now readily discernible that the only negotiation they possibly had was to allow America to withdraw before they completely take over the country. It is imperative that all their neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, must rise up to stem the tide of the Taliban incursion because they have most to lose should Afghanistan completely implodes. Who is even supplying the Taliban with weapons and logistics; and how are they paying for them and their war effort?
These are some of the questions which will lead to solving the Taliban problem, rather than blaming America for finally pulling out of Afghanistan 20 years past due. There is nothing "hasty and unconditional" about the withdrawal of American troops and to blame the withdrawal for the Taliban success is simply being economical with the truth. If twenty years is hasty, then there will be no fighting men and women of majority of the world countries' army because most of them are usually below 20 years old. Afghanistan is behaving like a spoilt child who is used to being defended and protected by American troops and now is helpless to defend itself because it is used to being defended. Joe Biden is right, it is time for Afghanis to defend themselves and their country and there will be no change in plans or going back on the withdrawal. Afghanistan for Afghanis.
