SWINE FLU WEDDING, LOVE CONQUERS EVERYTHING?
What love has put together, not even the deadly swine flu can put asunder; and so is it that this infected couple had to say their "I do" behind surgical masks? In their wedding on June 14th, in North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, Highland Park, Illinois, Ilana Jackson and Jeremy Fierstein told swine flu to go to hell as they proceeded to tie their nuptial nuts not minding the grim diagnosis they had received earlier? Their own was flu or no flu, the wedding must go on? About 48 hours to their wedding, their doctor called to report the diagnosis of a swine flu test they had taken following symptoms of vomiting, achy limbs and burning fever. It was positive! Undeterred, the couple deferred their hospital check-in but instead proceeded with their life-changing event, their wedding ceremony. Icheoku says, the way to go lover-birds, as we cannot live our lives in perpetual fear; afraid of all that life could throw at us including swine flu? To Ilana Jackson and Jeremy Fierstein, both 26, Icheoku says congratulations of your wedding and may the bravery of your defying swine flu guide your marriage into its golden years? The husband, Jeremy Fierstein, suspects he had contracted the swine flu while traveling to Chicago from Boston? The professional hairstylist and makeup artist Jackson had hired refused to touch her? The couple stayed 10 feet away from all guests at all times? Instead of walking down the aisle, Jackson and Fierstein walked farther distance around the guests? They were not allowed the normal bridal/wedding dance? They wore surgical masks and latex gloves throughout the wedding ceremony and so did some of the guests? No guest was brave enough to hug either of the couple? It was definitely a little different than a normal wedding but Icheoku says, a wedding is a wedding! Once again, congratulations swine flu couple, Ilana and Jeremy Fierstein!
