ICHEOKU says if the planned impeachment trial of President Donald John Trump will be presided over by the Senate's pro tempore, who usually seats over non presidents' impeachment trials, what again is the former president being tried for? For something which he allegedly did while still in office as a president and if, why is he now being subsumed under a "non president" status just for the purpose of forcing him under the Senate pro tempore authority. Does presidential immunity no longer cover "crimes" and other acts done by a president while in office? How can the president be tried as a "non president" for what he did as president and when crimes are punished only if the matter was a crime y when the act was done. So, it is either the president is president and therefore cannot come under the Senate pro temper's authority or whatever alleged crime he committed while in office is presidentially privileged.
Moreso, the president did not resign in order to evade prosecution. No, he duly completed his term which was covered by his presidential immunity. Unlike the 1876 case of Secretary of War Belknap' impeachment trial where the Secretary resigned in order to evade prosecution, President Donald John Trump did not take any overt act such as resignation to avoid prosecution, he served out his term and should have been prosecuted while still in office as impeachment of a president provided, which failure has now made the matter moot. Also a member of the impeachment party cannot sit in judgment over the impeachment trial proceeding as a party to a case cannot be the judge, prosecutor and executioner in the interest of due process and fairness. Patrick Leahy cannot be impartial no matter the pretense and how will he eventually vote when it comes to voting to convict or acquit the president.
ICHEOKU says does not really know why the Republican Party is tagging along with the Democratic Party's impeachment effort against President Donald John Trump as they should have since shut it down as overreaching. President Donald John Trump is not a "non president" for the purposes of falling within a Senate pro tempore's adjudicative impeachment authority over non presidents because once a president always a president. The Democrats are just fishing and reaching, trying to claw through to anything just to get their wish. It does not make sense and it should have been stopped by the Republicans, except that they are apparently in concert with the forces ganging up to stop President Donald John Trump's possible come back in 2024. It is about time the Supreme Court is approached to stop the anomaly and put an end to the outrageous and outlandish overreach taking place in the United States Congress. Enough of the persecution.
