ACTING PRESIDENT GOODLUCK AND HIS YANKEE VISITORS?
Guess who came to dinner at Aguda House residence of Nigeria's Acting President Jonathan Goodluck? Former President of the United States of America, George Walker Bush and his former National Security Adviser and Secretary of State, Condolezza Rice. They were in Nigeria over the weekend for a "private" visit and decided to pay respect to the man presently holding forth in Nigeria; whom they assured of world's cooperation and support? Good and comforting, but who knows what they extracted from Jonathan in return as a bargain for their expressed support? Call it cynicism for all we care, otherwise what changed between a Jonathan Goodluck and ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua since both of them came to office through the fraudulent Olusegun Obasanjo gimmick of an "election" of May 2007? Why was it necessary for the Americans to now show this degree of support for Jonathan when they never cared, but practically ignored Umaru Yar'Adua? It is equally important to note that America has ignored Yar'Adua as long as possible and barely few weeks after Jonathan was bumped up to an acting President position, America's former President and former Secretary of State came calling in Abuja-Nigeria, felicitating with Nigeria's acting president? May be America approves of his acting presidency? Icheoku have no problem with this visit, and prays it marks the beginning of more American involvement and interest in Nigeria's affairs; and not again leave it alone for the British, who have not been very sincere in ensuring Nigeria's growth since her Independence in 1960. Icheoku welcomes the visit of these two Americans!
