Robert Byrd, the longest serving US Senator from the coal-mining state of West Virginia has died. Senator Byrd died at age 92 of old-age related infirmities. He was in the senate for 58 years. Earlier in his life, he was a recruiter for KKK racists movement where he rose to become a Capo and also filibustered the Civil Rights Act. He was an unapologetic racist for so long and rode it to become a senator from his very impoverished orphan background. He however later in his life made amends, somewhat repented. He endorsed President Barack Obama while he ran for president over Hillary Clinton. But in life, it is usually where one stands in the face of adversity that really counts; he could have educated his people on the inhumanity of segregation and racism but chose not because it was not popular, so to most black people Robert was what he was - a racist. Unlike Uncle Ted Kennedy, Rob will not be widely missed; but his people of West Virginia shall miss his colossal presence. Icheoku says, so long the longest serving senator from West Virginia.
