EBENEZER BABATOPE, SHAMELESSLY SYCOPHANTIC?
Who doesn't know this Yoruba Awosit, recently turned political carpet-beggar, whose convictions are now predicated and determined solely by his stomach? He has thrown caution to the wind and now dwells among the dregs of Nigerian political jobbers who engage in all manner of decrepitude things just to remain "relevant"? He served in the infamous midget of Kano, Sani Abacha's government; he praise-sang the evil of Otta, Olusegun Obasanjo, throughout his days in office and still continuing today despite the fact that Obasanjo was his former nemesis? Now his current self-assumed assignment, is eulogising the weakling of Katsina, Umaru Yar'Adua? His mantra, "provided there is something in it for me"? By way of introduction, please meet the "egunje" master extra-ordinaire, Ebenezer Babatope alias Ebino Topsy! Once again he is on top of his game, having assumed the uneviable position of an unrepentant genuflecting and swivelling centipede for the present lacklustre President Umaru Yar'Adua's government? Why any of this "leaders" of Nigeria does not see through the veil of this scoundrel and still takes him serious, baffles Icheoku greatly. We therefore call on President Umaru Yar'Adua to be wary of this strange fellow's camaraderie? It does not look good and cannot and ain't good! Our attention was drawn to a recent interview wherein Ebenezer Babatope attributed the recent Nigeria's smacking by the G20 to a colonial-imperialistic tendencies of the western world? Icheoku says, what a statement in buffoonery, since other hitherto similarly colonized countries were invited to the summit bereft of Nigeria? Icheoku asks Ebenezer Babatope to explain if India, Brazil, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Argentina, Thailand etc are part of his delusional colonial cum imperialistic axis of evil, that conspired to dis-invite his Nigeria to the gathering of the world's finest? The truth of the matter is that Nigeria is so cursed to have people like this despicable son of Osun State in its leadership positions, which explains why everything has been in comatose ever since and now requiring re-branding? In his unarticulated delusional assessment of the G20 cold-shoulders to Nigeria, Ebino said, "As for the G20 Summit, we should not allow the imperialist world to control us with its own method of approaching matters. Their views on Yar’Adua and Nigeria smirks of world imperialism. So, lets forget G20. Eventually when they decide that Nigeria or any country in Africa should be part of G20, its’s their problem". And one wonders if this is the position of the thieving PDP government of Nigeria on why Nigeria was shunned by the world at London G20 economic summit? What a summation and you are forced to wonder, is such mind that could cough up such a weird explanation or reason capable of providing the desired leadership that will propel Nigeria forward? How can any sane man read the humiliating message to Nigeria, to get her act together, as an imperialist act when nations which started with Nigeria as prospective world powers have since left Nigeria in the dust due to lackadasical rudderless leadership, provided by the likes of this diarrhea-mouth Ebenezer Babatope? Their ilks have succeeded in obstinately holding Nigeria hostage since her coming into being in 1960 and have little to nothing to show for their adventurism? Instead of reading the fine-lines and subliminal message encapsulated in the non-invite, this political harlot is trying in vain to rationalize an indefensible report-card handed to Nigeria; which reads that the world is getting tired of waiting for the child-Nigeria to crawl, talkless of walk or run or even sprint? Who in the world has not left Nigeria behind? India? Brazil? South Korea? Thailand? And even South Africa which Nigeria helped to transition from apartheid to majority rule? This man, Ebenezer Babtope is unabashedly shameless and the family that he goes back to every day, after doing his dirty job for his masters, must be overwhelmed with revulsion at the denigrate who they call their family head? Only the truth shall save this morphed imbecile! Ebenezer Babatope who was once a proven social defender from his days at University of Lagos before he was kicked out by the first military government of Olusegun Obasanjo over the "Ali Must Go" affair; to his time as National Director of Organization of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, under the leadership of Papa Obafemi Awolowo; is now cavorting with the north as a member of Board of Trustees of the much despised Peoples Democratic Party just for mere sustenance? (Note that we said Obasanjo's first military government because his second coming was nothing different, both in autocracy and ruthlessness). How is the mighty Ebino fallen so low and become destitutional, that it forces the question, what would Awolowo do or say about this turn-coat who has traded everything Obafemi Awolowo stood for, for a piece of the proverbial porridge from the pot of the PDP? Ebenezer Babatope once quoted Awolowo telling him as saying to him "any day you find me asking you how are you running your department, don’t wait for me to follow it up with asking for your resignation." To this Icheoku retorts, your remaining admirers and the entire Yoruba race, on behalf of Pa Awolowo, are asking Ebino what has come over him and expect his long overdue resignation from the PDP? In the alternative he should talk only when necessary and like a man whose faculties are still in tact! Ebenezer Babatope's assertion that Papa Awolowo would not have frowned at his joining the PDP is evidence that the circuit in this man's brain is either misfiring for age-related infirmities or he was not really an accomplished ardent understudy of the late Yoruba sagely avatar as he erroneuosly believes? Admitted he later qualified his statement, acknowledging being in the wrong party, when he followed it up with "and in any case, my joining the PDP was based on protest which the leaders of Awo Organisation know about!" Whether this addedum makes him a conniving schemer of the highest kind, who will fox his way through any thing is anybody's guess? On his further claim that, were Awolowo to be alive today that he would be in the PDP was equally debunked by a commentator as a hallucinatory ranting of a confused man, stating that Obasanjo would never be qualified to lead a party wherein Awolowo belong? Icheoku concurs that the deity of Otta was once apositely described by Godwin Daboh as only good enough for his village headship? That Olusegun Obasanjo is still leading the PDP after all the trouble he put Nigeria and the PDP through, is simply an aberration, tolerated by unconcionable and voiceless party faithfuls who like sheep are being flocked according to the shepard's whims. Their orders is "never ask why should you jump, simply ask how high and salute!" In the same offensive interview, Ebenezer was asked about Olusegun Obasanjo remaining as the life chairman of PDP Board of Trustees? To which he responded that there is no life chairman of BOT of the party at any time and nobody is being elected this time - meaning their upcoming convention? Surprise, surprise? Which now begs the question, has the monster of Otta once again out-foxed the sick man of Katsina? Has the master tactician, military mechanic deployed his experience from the military to draw Yar'Adua into a fox-hole for close combat hostilities? Icheoku says, President Umaru Yar'Adua retains Obasanjo as the BOT chairman at his own risk as Obasanjo never forgives nor forgets and will surely out manoeuvre Yar'Adua at the appropriate time. With the recent mending of fence between Obasanjo and Atiku as a hindsight, President Umaru Yar'Adua has another thing coming if he allows Obasanjo to stick around in such a powerful position as the PDP's BOT chairman. It will be the height of political naivety ever displayed by the Katsina native, to allow a conniving devil-maycare Olusegun Obasanjo to be around to determine who goes to Aso Rock in 2011? Talk of a weakling president, a Shehu Shagari without an Umaru Dikko? Anyway back to the denigrate son of Osun, Ebenezer Babatope! The once columnist, director of party organization, senator, minister of transportation has been acting and talking strangely of late that a date with a psychiatrist may not be out of the ordinary. One commentator was so moved by the camelionic display of the Ebino Topsvy, that he was forced to observe concerning Ebenezer Babatope, "he once wrote derisively about Bola Ige and has joined camps with the men who he used to verbally attack as dangerous to the good of Nigeria"? Any you ask yourself what has come over this man? Another commentator wrote, "The crudity, brutality and despotism of the military have often been reflected or demonstrated by retired General Obasanjo and his party? It is a big ‘mis-message’ that Babatope who once suffered military brutality in the hands of Obasanjo chose to ignore the truth by clinging to the People’s Democratic Party by all means just for whatever crumbs can fall off the table". Sumarising, he noted, Ebino is not doing what he used to do for the right group with credibility but is now working for the wrong group with no credibility; adding, he served in the inglorious regime of Abacha and rightly or wrongly refused to get out of the junta even when Yoruba leaders of thought directed him to? Icheoku says, greed may as well be this man's middle name? Not to be outdone in performing "autopsy" on this man, another commentator quipped, "Ebino Topsy has assumed the role of a laundry master, strenuously struggling to whitewash and then decorate certified vermin with a veneer of credibility. He has become an unrelenting mouthpiece for those who have long demonstrated their immutable commitment to exploitative rule" . Icheoku summarizes, a man who has descended to such a lowly ridicule by his kiths and kins, former comrades, friends and admirers would in a civilzed society, where honor is valued, put a bullet to his temple or take a hike in an evil forest never to look back! No, Ebenezer Babatope is a Yoruba-Nigerian and as far as he is concerned, candour and dignity can take a back-burner as the sucre is one heck of a sweet thing to forgo? Ebenezer Babatope is an unrepetantant sycophant who should be really ashamed of descrating Obafemi Awolowo's long established principled stance by genuflecting to those vermins who Awolowo spent his entire life trying to educate? Ebenezer Babatope is not a good ambassador of the late sage and the sage's effort at educating him on political sagacity and dexterity was merely wasted!

PDP’ll not know peace until Obasanjo leaves – Adzuana
ReplyDeleteBy John Alechenu
Published: Sunday, 19 Apr 2009
A head of the commencement of the Peoples Democratic Party’s national convention tomorrow in Abuja, a founding member of the party, Chief Godwin Adzuana, has asked former President Olusegun Obasanjo to relinquish his chairmanship of the PDP’s Board of Trustees to pave way for peace within the party.

PDP National Chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor
Adzuana who stated this in Abuja on Friday, noted that the party suffered public odium under the administration of the former President.
He said, ”I am extremely unhappy that Obasanjo was retained as the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees. The presence of Obasanjo in the PDP is harming rather than helping the party.
”I know many people who will not come to this convention because Obasanjo is still the BOT chairman.
”This party will be better off when Obasanjo ceases to be a member. Why can‘t Obasanjo leave the PDP and go and manage his assets and leave us alone?
”The damage he did to PDP – many people when they see the PDP, they see Obasanjo. And in the forthcoming convention, I know of many people who are willing to come but will not attend because Obasanjo is still the chairman of the BOT.
”Why keep him till 2011? He has no electoral value. What you count in a political party is the electoral value of each member of that party.
”The South-West has no space for Obasanjo, that‘s his constituency. It is unfair to the PDP because President Umaru Yar‘Adua has come to give respectability to the party.
”That is why at every stage of the party, it has been clarified that the national leader of the party is President Yar‘ Adua and at the state level, the leaders of the party are governors.”
”His retention is a disservice to the party. I am appealing to all the founding fathers of the PDP to come back to the fold.”
The party stalwart also dismissed the campaign for a second term for the president and state governors as a needless distraction.
According to him, those currently in office should be conscious of the fact that a second term ticket should be based on performance.
“As such, any person desirous of a second term ticket should first of all concentrate on delivering on his current mandate,” he added.
Adzuana hailed the decision of President Yar‘Adua to cut the convention budget from N400m to N100m.
He said, ”What he (Yar‘Adua) did with the national convention is absolutely justified. I have said it in the past that the only thing that will stop the president from a second term was his health; because Nigerians have concerns about his health but in the last four – five months, there has been an improvement in his health. Even the President will have second term if Nigerians are satisfied with his performance.”
Adzuana also predicted that the party would sweep the polls in 2011, but said it should be prepared to concede Kano, Edo, Lagos and Anambra states.
PDP Must Sack Obasanjo As BOT Chairman - Shuluwa
ReplyDeleteABU KING SHULUWA is a prominent politician and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has severally attempted, albeit unsuccessfully, to govern Benue State, even as latest as the 2007 general elections. Once a member of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), he has also chaired the Governing Board of Federal Polytechnic, Mubi and other boards in the country and served as Commissioner in several ministries in the state under the military. In this interview with Correspondent, TERNA DOKI admonished his party against retaining ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo as Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman. He also spoke on some other issues. Excerpts: Consideration of the Justice Uwais report on the Electoral Reform has gone far. But Nigerians generally seem dissatisfied with most areas. What would you advise the National Assembly to do when the report is sent to them to effect the necessary amendments? Generally, I am in support of the electoral reforms, but the electoral reforms must come within the politicians themselves, what they do and how they think about politics. It shouldn't be outside. If we don't reform ourselves as politicians, the electoral reform will be useless. There are a lot of things that are wrong in this country - winners-take all, deliberate attempts to kill opposition politics, trying to ensure that we become one party system. And these are wrong things; trying to find any means of winning an election; trying to impose candidates on the people. Most of these things are completely wrong and anti-democratic. Democracy allows the people to choose whoever they want to choose to lead them. If they want to give you their mandate, nobody should twist it. But where, the people's will is altered and mandates displaced, that's where we have had problems till now. Now, when you look at the report itself, I think its okay, it's very, very good; it has addressed so many issues. Similarly, when a report of such nature has been submitted to the Federal Executive Council as it has been done, it also has the powers to examine the report and consider possible areas of amendments. But I strongly believe that people who have won elections should not be sworn-in until the respective tribunals have disposed off, all cases of litigation. Therefore we have to make sure that the period allowed the tribunals to handle litigations, has to be properly spelt out and enough time given to decide the cases. And all the judges must be told point- blank that on this date you must have to finish all the cases and at the expiration of the time lag and the judges fail to decide the cases, an adhoc arrangement should be made, to have them resolved speedily, so that the winner can be sworn-in. But where somebody is already sworn- in litigation is still in progress, I consider it very wrong. Why do you consider the swearing-in of winners alongside litigations wrong? I consider it wrong because, once the person holds power; he uses it to intimidate the opponent in every way possible. Sometimes, even public funds are used to sponsor such cases. Political patronage is extended and people who should ordinarily come out to testify in the alleged electoral frauds, decline. Again the public is accusing President Umaru Yar'Adua of attempts to doctor the electoral reform report. Is this feasible? I think it is wrong for Nigerians to begin to insinuate that the President wants to doctor the report. Who set up the committee? Yar'Adua did. He can as well throw away the whole report, without sending it to the National Assembly. It wasn't the National Assembly that set up the committee. So, having received the report, he is also supposed to look at the report and that's why he set up a team to write a white paper and when the white paper is now written, he will then put up a bill to the National Assembly on areas that he cannot just act, that is those that have to do with the electoral law. There are certain areas he cannot just act without sending them to the National Assembly. So, for somebody to say that the President has no right to look at the report, but the National Assembly, as if the National Assembly set up the committee, is wrong. Okay, why didn't the committee send the report directly to the National Assembly, why did they have to pass it to the President? I think the only problem people are having is with the appointment of INEC chairman, for which people are criticising Yar'Adua. Even then, it is wrong because there is a division of authority. Yar'Adua appoints the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) himself. So, if Yar'Adua cannot appoint INEC chairman, is it the man that he has appointed that should do it? It looks very clumsy and stupid. If I can appoint you, then I will suddenly lose the power to appoint another person, but you, my appointee, will retain the power? What a hell? It's not correct. How about the proposed scrapping of State Electoral Commissions? It is perfectly in order. Election is election. We have INEC and the issue of setting up another electoral body for local governments ought not to have come up in the first place. There are three tiers of government and why should the state set up another electoral body to look into election only at the local government level? Why? It is absolutely nonsense and wrong. It has been wrong and I'm glad that the Uwais report has suggested the scrapping of state electoral bodies and it should be approved by any sensible person. People want to control the grassroots, because once you control the grassroots, in a way you can control the nation. And therefore, the best thing to do is to allow national INEC to conduct elections and state electoral bodies should be scrapped, should not have existed in the first place. An assessment of the practice of partisan politics today in Nigeria shows a gradual shift to one-party system and even in the North that has record of firm opposition, the region seems to be toeing the same line, with even incumbent state governors in the opposition defecting to the ruling party. Do you consider this a betrayal of the political ideologies of founding fathers of the North? You see, I want you to take a look at the whole of Nigeria and not just the North. When you look at the political history of this country, you will discover that in the past, the West, East and North had their own political parties. Today, the West is tilting towards one party, which is the Action Congress (AC) and that's Awo! And the North has cleverly seen it and they are also tilting to one party, probably the PDP. It is going to be the major party for the North. Who knows what the Eastern part of this country may drift into? They may drift into All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) or All Progressive Group Alliance (APGA) or whatever it is. And this is very dangerous. And that is why I belong to those who advocate for a two-party system. The two-party system that was introduced by the IBB regime was the best that has ever happened to this country. The only problem is that IBB shot himself in the leg by insisting that he will step aside and one day come back. The cancellation of those elections that were done or the annulment of June 12 and the cancellation of the victory of General Shehu Yar'Adua in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) primaries as well as disqualification of so many Nigerians who won election during his time were his greatest undoing. If we have two-party system, the issue of dividing this country in terms of ethnicity based on parties will not exist. Nigeria should adopt two-party system. And back to the issue of the North like I said, the region has seen what is happening in the West. But I also cherish opposition. There should be opposition. I don't like one-party system. There are many advantages of opposition. When you have opposition, there are checks and balances in government. It makes a sitting government work extra hard to achieve the mandate that has been given to it. It also creates more awareness among the electorates and so forth. But when you don't have opposition, everything becomes dull, very dull and intra-party fighting is dangerous. If I have my own way, I will make the opposition party in this country very strong. But the practice today is that once anybody is in power, he tries to kill opposition, by either enticing or starving the opposition from benefiting from the national cake. This is wrong. And therefore the idea of winner -takes- all should not be practiced in Nigeria. As soon as elections are over, everybody should be given a position in government, even the opposition because they have something to offer. Is there any moral justification for someone to abandon his party's mandate, by defecting to another party platform and still retains his position? Let me say this! Who has been given any mandate in this country? That is another question. Many people who are sitting there didn't have the mandate of the people, they were appointed. They were imposed on the people. And they don't even have the manifesto; they don't know it and they don't even read it. That is another big problem. Are those people who claim to have the mandate actually given the mandate by the people? Do they know the manifestos of their parties? Do they themselves have any agenda? Before you contest election, you must have a programme of action, you should know what the people want and their dislikes and exactly what people want you to come and do for them. If a party, that's assuming you have actually been given the mandate at all, has given you the mandate and you decide to shift to another party, there should be a by-election for that position. You should also vacate the mandate and elected seat the people have given you within the party. With the spread of this trend now, are you canvassing that it should be made part of laws governing elections and mandates? Exactly! I think it's already a part of our laws, because if you are a governor today, who has been given the mandate under PDP and you decide to defect to the ANPP, you should automatically forfeit the seat. Already there is a law. But it is not tight because it says, unless there is a faction. But it is abused now. Politicians sponsor factions in party so as to have an excuse to defect. It should not be so and we want a situation where once you defect, it means you have dissolved yourself of the mandate. The law should say once you are given a mandate by a party, you must abide by it and serve until the end of the duration of the mandate and when you have cause to move to another party, you also lose the position automatically and another election conducted for you and others to re-contest the seat. The greatest worry of Nigerians now is that none of the items on Yar'Adua's seven-point agenda has been met, almost two years after. What is your opinion, sir? But tell me, Nigeria is very rich, it's big, and it's got people. Then a President introduces a seven-point agenda for four years and people are saying it's too big? People are saying he should reduce the agenda; reduce what? No President before Yar'Adua has ever given us agenda. Most of the Presidents we have had in the past will carry like 100 agendas. A man has reduced it to seven and for these seven, people are saying he is too slow or he has no focus. I want to say if there is any President in Nigeria who has focus is Yar'Adua. If you say he is too slow, why should he rush? This country is not disappearing tomorrow. We are acting as if tomorrow, there will be no Nigeria, so we are rushing, saying, please do quick, do quick. No! That is not the issue. What is worth doing is worth doing very well and before you do anything very well, you must study it carefully. Nigerians are very difficult people. We are multi-national. We have the Igbo, the Yoruba, the Hausa/Fulani, the Tiv, the Kanuri, the Ibibio. These are different nations and before you do anything, it's necessary that you study these characteristics around you. So, I think Yar'Adua has a focus and his agenda are seven in number. He is looking at energy, education, security of lives and property and food security, so forth. So, let's wait and see in four years, we shall ask ourselves whether he has achieved anything. So, the President is not too slow as others are thinking, but he is only being very careful not to make mistakes of the past. So, when you are careful not to make the past mistakes, people say you are too slow, when you are too fast, they again ask, why is he in a hurry? That's how Nigerians are. Political hawks within your party, the PDP have already started second term campaigns for Yar'Adua and the general belief is that the man might willingly step down after his first tenure. Why do you think this is necessary now? President Yar'Adua is not concerned with second tenure yet. People who are concerned with second tenure when they have not yet finished their first tenure; I think they are sick in the head. You have been given the mandate for four years, finish and lets see what you can do with four years and if you have done well, we say, look continue. But there are sycophants in this country and the country seems to live on it. From the first day, he was there, Oga you shall have a second term or what they call Tazarce. And if it is the governor like say in Benue, they will say in Tiv that may God bless the Governor, you will repeat the seat 20 times. That's nonsense, honestly. Let them see what the man can do for four years. And after four years, you are returned because you have done well, it is your entitlement. But if the contrary is the case, we shall say look, the four years we have given you, we have seen nothing, so there is no point wasting time on you, let's try another person. But I think Yar'Adua is not concerned with those sycophants who are saying he should go for a second term. He wants to achieve something in his first tenure before thinking of second term. From a personal perspective, how would you assess the impact of his seven-point agenda? So far, he is doing very well and he has a focus. If you look at Nigeria and the problems inherited, they are enormous. Take power for example, if you follow the probe of the National Assembly on power, especially the testimony of people, contracts were given to people and nothing was done. You don't expect Yar'Adua to come up in one day and clear this huge mess from the preceding administration. What I feel he wants to do is to draw a red line across, but before he does it, he wants to know what had happened in the past. And in Nigeria when you want to know what has happened in the past, you will discover that so many people have dirty hands in this past and you also have to be very careful, because the same people who are around you are also part of those with filthy hands in the past and they will frustrate you. A lot of those who are in the National assembly, some of them were part of the past administration and by implication part of what was going on. I keep referring to the Power Probe; do you think the report can see the light of day? Could it be why when the committee submitted the probe report to House plenary recently, it ended up in protests, with some members walking out? I am not aware that they walked out. But I believe they can walk out because many of them were part of that mess. So many people were part of the mess. So, if you want to handle the report carefully, you will not spare anybody. So, it is one area where Yar'Adua has to be very careful. As the Special Convention of the PDP is holding, one of the major issues in contention seems to be the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees (BOT). Why is this seat the concern of every party man? The election of the BOT was wrongly done and that's why there is a special convention. It has never happened that way, where the sitting President organises an election and then makes himself chairman of BOT. It was not properly done and that's why there is a convention so that it will be properly done. But other elections of the party were properly done at a proper convention. And also I believe part of the reason is also personal to some people. There are people who believe that Obasanjo should not even be the chairman of BOT again. Having been the President of this country, you want to be the chairman of BOT and control what? And considering that you had controlled the country and the party in the past and so to again give you the BOT chairman is to perpetuate the wrongs you masterminded in the party. Obasanjo almost killed PDP and therefore, some of us will not like to see him as the chairman of BOT, if we have our own way. But if we cannot, let it be. Now would you support a return of the BOT chair back to the North since it was in the south under the Obasanjo Presidency? You see, this idea of the North, the South, the West is killing this country. Let us allow the person who is best and can do the job to handle it. There are certain things we should not play this North, South and West thing. We should build bridges across and not allow these sectional cleavages to kill this country. And that's why I said earlier that Nigeria is a very difficult country. If you give anybody appointment, they will say you are from the North, why are you giving this thing to this man? Not minding the competency of the person. Left to me alone, I will say, let's give the job to the person best fitted for the job, no mater where he comes from. But if matters get to worse, let's maintain the status quo as obtained during the Obsanjo days. Its clear that the PDP intends to re-structure the BOT and what areas are being contemplated? We would want a situation where the right candidate emerges at the convention and somebody with proven integrity and not someone who has already messed up the party like Obasanjo. All the mess in the PDP, all the unqualified people who have been elected, who have been put in places were done by Obasanjo, there was no proper election during Obasanjo's era. So, I subscribe to the notion that Obasanjo should never be the chairman of BOT; we should find a suitable person and put in the position. By next May, Governor Gabriel Suswam would have clocked two years in office. And within this time he has had applauses and attacks from all segments of Benue State. Now, critically examine his government with the binoculars of an elder statesman, what would be your submissions? I have always said that I won't comment on the government of Suswam as early as this time. I had always wished to comment on his administration after three years towards the beginning of the fourth year because that is the time I will look at what he has done totally. I have been in Benue, I have worked in Benue, I know Benue. I contested the governorship of the state and I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the state and the people of Benue. And I know what I expect from whoever has been given the mandate and I also know want the preceding administration has done. If anybody tells you on the contrary, he is lying. And I know exactly what Suswam has inherited. And if you want me to comment now, I may be stepping on other people's toes, may be the past administration. Or may be, I will be telling you something else about Suswam. But assuming you were to comment now, what would you say? Well, generally, Suswam inherited a very difficult administration, the time he came in as the governor. Here was the past administration, for which I can say, he was slightly a part of it, and the same past administration gave him the support to be governor today. His hands are tied in certain things that he can do for the people because, if he goes out to do them, he will be offending the previous administration. So, he is being very careful on this. When he doesn't do it, then he gets criticised and when he wants to do anything better for the people, the past administration says, oh! Now he is trying to run them down. So, it's like he is standing between the devil and the deep blue sea and as a young man, he is being very careful. But assuming you put somebody like Shuluwa or someone else, you damn it. But Suswam is being very, very careful not to offend the past administration and also to make sure that he achieves something little to justify the mandate that was given to him. He is also mindful of the fact that he was supported by the past administration and they simply cannot pull their hands off him. He is always being held back, he is always being told, we supported you; so, make sure you do what we want! But let me tell you one thing. There are certain areas Suswam has performed brilliantly well. Take our roads in the town, whatever it takes, it happened within just two years and since Benue state was created, I have never seen streets better than what I have seen within his two years. One would ask what the 12 governors that have ruled Benue either as military or civilians were doing. May be we can say, that was not their priority. But this is Suswam's priority, he wants good things, may be those people didn't have good things in their heads and didn't care to develop the state capital more beautifully than what Suswam is doing, so they didn't care. Some people were busy building people. That's why I must also commend Akume because during his tenure, a lot of people built very nice personal houses. He made sure he built individuals. Now Suswam is not trying to build individuals per se, but he is trying to put things on ground for everybody to benefit. And by so doing, people are suffering. There are few who are not benefiting directly and those are the kind of people who used to benefit from the past administration, who cannot now benefit from Suswam, individually are complaining.
