ICHEOKU says her black life really matters and she proved that one can be both black and American and still happy. She is proud of her two identities as they are both correlative and not mutually exclusive of one another. She took a white people's sport and made it her own and she truly owned it all the way to assert herself on the Olympics gold medal.
ICHEOKU says congratulations to Erin Johnson for making American winter sports great again. She is black and proud, and she is also American and proud. Unlike the Chinese American renegade Eileen Gu, she did not compete for an African or Caribbean country of her roots as she is fully vested in her American nationality and is now being celebrated by all Americans, of every hue and shade. We are all happy for her.
We share in her milestone, a black person competing and winning an olympics gold medal in a global ice related sport, the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. It is a big deal. Congratulations to Erin Johnson, a celebrity is born, and Vice President Kamala Johnson will be salivating at the opportunity to invite her to the White House for some photo-ups. She has shot herself into the history book of immortality as another first black person to break a barrier.
