Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, 55, you will recall, is the first judge of Hispanic background and only the third woman in the court's 220-year history. Justice Sonia Sotomayor has been a federal judge for 17 years before her nomination to the Supreme court last May to take the place of retiring Justice David Souter.
