His name was Walter Cronkite; he was a renowned CBS anchor man and he is now gone! He was just 92 years old! Walter died Friday July 17, 2009 at his Manhattan, New York City home with his family by his side to say their final goodbyes. His cause of death was cerebral vascular disease? Cronkite was a permanent fixture of the "CBS Evening News" for over twenty years from 1962 to 1981, and brought to the world such huge stories as the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., several racial and anti-war riots, Watergate and the Iranian hostage crisis among many others. Walter Cronkite was survived by children Nancy, Mary Kathleen and Walter Leland III; his wife of 65 years, Betsy Cronkite had predeceased him since 2005.
